Plan
PROPOSED METROPOLITAN BUS GARAGE, SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA
A series of connected Concrete Domes providing for parking (240 buses including 20 articulated buses and, 500 garage parking stalls), maintenance and service (30 buses at a time), and office space for a large urban transit operation. The Concrete Dome facility is a column free, indestructible structure that will protect against accidental bus collisions with the structure and more easily handle bus emissions and facility cleaning. This facility would use air doors in the bus garage and in spite of a high number of air changes required for this type of facility, some energy savings can be obtained in cold climates. The strength of the connected Domes allows for the facility to retain a steep bank without an additional retaining wall .
